Open Circle offers Yoga, Pilates and Personal Training for begining to advanced students. Our goal is to help you achieve total wellness. All of our teachers are certified and extremely knowledgable in their field of expertise. Healing arts, like massage therapy, and reiki are held by appointment only. YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Mixed-Level Hatha Yoga These Yoga classes enable you to feel challenged, without feeling intimidated. As a participant, you work at varying levels of intensity and explore different variations of the same posture. Classes close with a final relaxation. You'll leave feeling calm, centered and quietly energized. If you don't want to wait for the 6 week Beginner's class, feel free to come to any Mixed-Level class on our schedule.
Hot Yoga this 6 week yoga class is practiced in 88 degrees and includes sun salutations, standing and balancing postures. Backbends and twists are also taught. Be prepared to practice inversions, like headstands and shoulderstands (modifications are available). Bring a towel, water and dress in layers. Be prepared to sweat, stretch, sculpt and strenghthen. This class is for intermediate/advanced students.
Meditative Yoga This class is for all levels and is rooted in traditional yoga philosophy. The class begins with centering breath exercise and is opened with a round of chanting. Asanas (postures) follow and a healthy sequence from warming up, to work and finally, to rest in deep relaxation, is adhered to. Students then work with the breath (pranayama) and concentration (pratyhara). A structured meditation (samadhi) concludes the class and a round of Om sends students on their way feeling centered and at peace.
Power Yoga This is an intense yoga practice that will build endurance, strength and flexibilty. This is a GREAT class for athletes looking to cross train, or current yoga students who want to deepen their physical practice!!!
Active Senior Yoga A class designed especially for those sixty and over. You'll gain the benefits of better balance, improved flexibility and stronger muscles and joints without the stress and strain of weightlifting or aerobic exercise workouts. Deep relaxation is the dessert of the practice.
Beginner's Yoga This 6 week course is designed for those who have never taken a yoga class. We start off very basic and every week we build onto the yoga poses, so that at the end of the course students will have a yoga routine they can practice at home. Every student is encouraged to work at their own level and modifications and alternate poses are ALWAYS offered. This is your chance to learn about yoga, in a welcoming and enjoyable place, with a certified instructor!! Offered at various times throughout year. There is an ONGOINGbeginner class every Wed. 7-8pm.
Pilates All levels are invited to participate in this class, which emphasizes stability in the core or powerhouse, the area around your middle where the muscles that support the spine are located and in the shoulder girdle and pelvis. A series of flowing movement, along with conscious breath and attention are guaranteed to help realign your body structure and make you stronger and more supple. Pilates is a truly holistic approach to physical and mental harmony.
Prenatal Yoga The perfect way for the expecting mom to focus on her physical and emotional health as she nutures her body and the life of her baby. Through this course, mothers will be guided safely through gentle stretching to keep the pegnant body strong and flexible. Poses that help to assist with childbirth preparation, provide relief from things such as fatigue, digestion problem and backache will be emphasized. Mothers will learn how to use relaxation and breathing techniques to support and guide them through the demands of pregnancy and delivery. Join us and gain a sense of balance, connection with your unborn baby, confidence and joy. No experience is needed. Physician approval is required. Private sessions are taught by Barb Matheny.
